Sanctuary From the Trenches

Output: Web
Client: National Trust

In 2014, the National Trust commissioned Unity House to produce a range of content for Dunham Massey’s ground-breaking Sanctuary From the Trenches exhibition. The project returned the house to the Auxiliary Red Cross Hospital it served as between 1917 and 1918.

The work included a short film for the National Trust AGM which put the viewer in the position of an injured patient newly arrived from the frontline. We also documented an art installation produced in collaboration with Primary Care Trust and Military Veterans.

In 2015, Sanctuary From the Trenches led to Dunham Massey being shortlisted in the Art Fund Prize for Museum of the Year.

We felt that Unity House really captured the essence of the experience at the Stamford Hospital and feedback from those who watched it was really positive. Unity House were very easy to work with and edited the film quickly to ensure we met our tight deadlines.
